After 40, skin makes an oily compound called 2-nonenal. It clings to skin and fabric, and you can't smell it on yourself.
Yuami is made with kakishibu, the tannin of green persimmons. It grabs that stale smell so it rinses away with the lather, instead of being covered for an hour.

Most persimmon soaps show you a sweet, ripe orange fruit. But the tannin that catches odor is strongest before the fruit ripens.
Ours comes from Tennou persimmons in Minamiyamashiro, Kyoto, picked green every summer, then made into soap in two small batches a year.
